Green Social Networking

Social Networking sites are springing up all over the internet. One can find networks on the next star trek convention to sites allowing your dogs to find friends. It's difficult to find any use for many of these if you have a myspace or facebook account. But even sites like myspace and facebook are getting mundane.

Zelixy.com is a new breed of social networking sites that actually empower the user to do something positive in the world. The mantra of the site seems to be giving a voice to the user to determine the direction of the company. The founders, Matt and Ted, are eagerly listening to the participants of the site. Through the innovative contest platform, designed to allow users to show off their talents and passions, Zelixy has given the users the ability to pick the sites name (Zelixy.com), the logo and even the slogan.

In the near future, Zelixy will launch a series of viral advertising contests designed to promote various companies and causes with the skills of the user community.

Another interesting realm of the site is the ability for a user to select a charity of their choice when uploading content (video, audio, image or text entries). Half of the advertising revenue generated by the users submission will go the the charity of their choice. Thus, watching videos on the internet now really can have an impact on something positive.

Zelixy is still in its infancy and one may find many glitches or odd features that come with the territory of being a beta. But the mentality of the founders seems to be one of honesty, passion, and the desire to make a difference. Check it out.
